The flower does in fact look like a big Masdevallia. Really great sp., easy to grow into specimen plants. 2 1/2" flowers have a dorsal sepal which is red-purple with white hair-fringed margins. The lateral sepals are red, turning yellow towards the tips and have a wide band of gold around their margins. Lowland forests.
