Rare offer. Outrageously beautiful known cultivar. "This (C. mendelii) is undoubtedly one of the finest introductions of late years, and makes a very distinct plant for exhibition". (B. S. Williams, The Orchid Grower's Manual, 1885) I wonder if this perhaps is the variety described by Williams as "C. mendelii var. Jamesiana"? It is a hardy plant - easy to grow. "Its native home is on the slopes of the Eastern Cordillera... the Department of Santande where it often grows on exposed precipices and bare rocks." (Withner, 1988)
