TOF2753 Grammatophyllum speciosum `Natural World.
Philippines through New Guinea. .

No Image Available

Actually the ‘Original’, the giant plant in our “botanical garden” died several years ago after it was blown down by a big storm – so this will be the last batch of seedlings for a while. "This is perhaps the largest of all orchid species…” (Seidenfaden, Wood, 1992) Pseudobulbs reach 9 ft in length, 21 ft in some extreme cases! Flower spikes to 6 or 7 ft. with many 4" showy flowers that last well. Yellow with chestnut blotches all over. This beautiful cultivar has a contrasting solid red lip. These seedlings will take a long time to reach blooming, but we know some of you would like to get started now.

Kefersteinia mystacina x sib.

Gallery
Small or “miniature” clumping fan-shaped plants, without pseudobulbs in the Chondrorhyncha family. Wet and warm-growing. Numerous flowers emerge from the base, ringing the plant. Inch-and-a-half flowers are insane! Greenish with an amazing fimbriated (bearded) white lip. Very interesting conversation piece, almost always in bloom. Keep wet year-round. Plants are very small but blooming size.

Miniature fan-shaped plants from warm to cool shady montane forests. This one seems easier to grow than some others. Single 1" flowers on numerous short spikes. Sepals are yellow-green with reddish spotting and barring, petals are more densely covered with reddish spotting, and the white lip is marked by rows of red spotting. Very limited.

Kegeliella atropilosa

I think of this as a "miniature Stanhopea". Rarely offered delightful species. Small distinctive plants have reddish foliage and occur low down on the trunks of trees (shady) in very wet forests. Pendant 12" spikes with up to 10 flowers which open more fully than in K. kupperi. Greenish-white with reddish bars, yellow lip and an attractive contrasting emerald green column. Blooms 3-4 times a year.
