Cattleya aclandiae 'Natural World' x self.

Dwarf epiphytic species is still in demand. Tough little plants produce terminal inflorescences with one or two large (for the plant size) waxy long-lasting flowers. Sepals and petals are greenish yellow, covered with maroon blotches. The showy lip is whitish around the column grading to beautiful amethyst. From rather dry areas near the coast. Good seedlings.

(Syn: C. autumnalis) Rare in nature. Five to twenty 3" flowers per stem, beautiful orchid-blue in this variety. The flowers are beautiful light blue-purple, with a darker blue-purple ring on the lip. “Plants of this species regularly flower in the fall or early winter, hence one of its names, autumnalis." (Withner, 1988) Tolerant of heat, sun and low humidity. Very important to us, as it blooms right on schedule for our big County Fair Orchid Show in early October.
