TOF3066 Dendrobium loddigesii
Laos, Southern China..
Dendrobium loddigesii

Dwarf warm to cold growing epiphyte has canes with small deciduous leaves and forms dense mats on trees or rocks. These clumps can be completely covered in beautiful flowers, which are good size. Pale rose, with wide rose-fringed lip which has a large orange disk in the center. Good fragrance too.

TOF526 Dendrobium pachyphyllum.
Vietnam through Malaysia..
No Image Available

One of our favorite little cuties even though flowers last only a day or two. Small plants form dense mats and produce multitudes of 1/2" fantastically sweet fragrant flowers.Colors vary from cream-white with purple veins to pure yellow. Flowers randomly throughout the year, and we can always tell when this one is blooming in the nursery. Small plant with big fragrance! Very limited.

TOF2182 Dendrobium rhodopterygium var. semi-alba.
Dendrobium rhodopterygium var. semi-alba.

Intermediate. Something like Dendrobium parishii. Like other Indian-type Dendrobiums with deciduous leaves, a dry winter rest is suggested, although we have not gone out of our way to observe that (at this stage).

TOF3102 Dendrobium stratiotes.
Western New Guinea..
Dendrobium stratiotes.

A classsic! Large epiphyte has short spikes which emerge along canes carrying large long-lasting white “antelope type” flowers with tall yellow multi-twisted petals. White lip is vividly striped with purple. Likes warmth and bright light. Many of these antelope-type Dendrobiums were brought to Hawaii by Marines returning from the Pacific at the end of World War II. “One of the most striking of the Spatulatas and a firm favorite in hybrid work” (Millar, 1999) Ms. Millar described her 1974 patrol on a trawler on the Bernsbach River in Western District, Papua. Upon finding this species for the first time in New Guinea, she said that they were euphoric about the number and size of the plants hanging over the river. “I think it was the best and happiest patrol I was ever on."

TOF3261 Dendrobium tanii 'Dark Pink' x sib 'Pink'.
(Dendrobium bracteosum var. tanii.)
Dendrobium tanii 'Dark Pink' x sib 'Pink'.

Correctly D. bracteosum ‘Mr. Tan’s’, or also known as D. bracteosum var. tannii. Kew does not list D. tanii as a valid species name. It does differ from the regular bracteosum in its more compact growth habit and larger flowers. Small to medium warm-growing epiphyte, with flowers that last a very long time, 3 months or longer. Hopefully pink will come out, but in our previous experiences with Den. bracteosum itself, whites with colored lips also resulted)
