Cirrhopetalum sp. `Jeff's Favorite'.

This is my favorite Cirrhopetalum in our pretty big collection. We got it as "Bulbophyllum leytense" in 1997. Beautiful whorls of delicate narrow flowers with wonderful intense clear yellow color. But also, the way in which a specimen orients it's many umbels is very eye-catching.

TD321 Cynorkis gibbosa.
Madagascar..

Cynorkis gibbosa.

Gallery
A really special and elite terrestrial species, found growing in humid and shady conditions along streams on granite boulders. Nice mottled foliage. It is deciduous and lives underground part of the year – but is amazingly easy to grow. Very striking heads of cinnabar red and orange flowers. Some plants are just beginning to pop up right now – availability depends on the growth being up enough for us to ship it. Our little secret: we’ve discovered that Cynorkis aren’t as nearly as seasonal as Habenarias – they can put up growths at any time of year! ONLY THREE AVAILABLE.

TD308 Cynorkis guttata.
Madagascar..

Cynorkis guttata.

Gallery
Cynorkis guttata is a new species described in The Orchid Review in Sept. 2007. Fabulous terrestrial orchid with bright two-tone colors. Plant dies back after flowering. Later, lush new growths come up quickly and put out an erect spike with a large umbel-like head of many (17) beautiful good-size flowers which are light pink with red dots and bright red centers. Really magnificent and easy to grow. Interestingly, unlike say, our Habenaria rhodocheila, these plants seem to send up new growths and flowers at any time of the year! THESE ARE STARTING TO SHOW THEIR NEW GROWTH NOW.

Dendrobium alexandrae.

Gallery
Latourea section. Epiphytic on moss-covered branches in intermediate rainforest. "This magnificent species represents the first close relative of Den. spectabile, but it differs completely in the labellum." (Schlechter, 1912) Schlechter dedicated this species to his wife, Alexandra. The basic color is yellow with purplish spots – with a long pointed lip almost covered by red-brown tessellations. One of the most worthwhile Latoureas.

Fresh batch. Still a favorite - from the mountains of the Northern Luzon. The name refers to the lip coloration. Flowers are milky white, lip amethyst-purple. Many short pendant inflorescences bear up to 20 flowers each. Epiphyte in strong filtered light. Very showy. Beautiful plants!

We still have our old mother plants which are superior to what we see in the market. Section Latourea. These "latoureas" offer showiness, ease of culture, resistance to rainfall & over watering, near-continuous flowering, and extremely long-lasting flowers! Many cream or white flowers with violet spots and heavy violet veining in lip.

Dendrobium batanense.

(Den. equitans?) A really kool warm-growing species. Interesting growths with flattened foliage form huge dense clumps. Many single small white flowers hang down. Have to see to appreciate the incredible displays - reminds me of a mini "galaxy of stars". Flowers last about 3 days but flower successively from the same stems many times per year. Nice fragrance. Plants in net pots.

Highly recommended.

Some species prove themselves with the test of time. Continues to thrive and flower all the time in our nursery over the decades. Many short sprays of flowers which are extremely long-lasting. Green sepals and petals with a dark purplish striped lip. Fairly common in Hawaii 20 years ago, but not seen too much today. Nice plants!
