TOF2822 Angraecum longicalcar.
Angraecum longicalcar.

Extraordinary species. One of the longest spur nectaries in the orchid kingdom accommodates the moth pollinator's 16" long tongue! Large plants have elegant spikes with up to 12 flowers each. Non-resupinate blossoms have showy waxy white lip and light green sepals - petals. The greenish spur hangs down beneath each flower 16 inches! "Conveys the impression of strength, viability, nobility, and grandeur, and in our opinion makes an ideal specimen plant." (Hillerman, 1986) Highly scented at night. Prefers brighter light.
5.00" pot One only.

TOF3208 Angraecum pseudofilicornu x self.
Northern Madagascar..
Angraecum pseudofilicornu x self.

Unusual and interesting growth, with thin “terete” leaves, like Ang. scottianum. The white flowers, usually 2 to an inflorescence, have some pinkish in the sepals. Lucky to get the parent plant from Mr. Hillerman many years ago. These can bloom at a very small size. Picture shows approximate size of plant.
Small plants in 2" net pot. / Three only

TOF2841 Arpophyllum giganteum.
Mexico through Colombia..
Arpophyllum giganteum.

The Candlestick Orchid. Large-growing plants produce beautiful tight cylinders of many small closely spaced light pink flowers with dark pink lips. Not many companies have produced this from seed. "A genus of great antiquity." (Withner, 1998)

Small-size lithophyte or epiphyte found in hot dry deciduous forests and around rock outcroppings. Tall erect spikes carry several pink flowers with lavender in the petals and lavender markings on lips. Nowadays I depend on Barkerias to add to my display plants for our big Fall orchid show. Small N.B.S. plants. Very limited.
